Physical Literacy Project Expands

Physical literacy is at the heart of the Jersey Sport Foundation. We have worked across 19 primary schools in the island to deliver physical literacy assessments in partnership with the Community Sports Development team and the States of Jersey. Why is it important? Well individuals who are physically literate move with competence and confidence in a wide variety of physical activities in multiple environments that benefit the heathy development of the whole person (PHE Canada, 2010).

Utilising the Canadian Assessment of Physical Literacy (CAPL) protocol we are able to assess a broad spectrum of skills and abilities that contribute to the participating child. To date with have assessed 579 primary school children and will further continue to support primary school physical education teachers in developing a physically literate child.
